Commentary
The High Desert experienced a M3.4 Landers aftershock late this morning, at 10:48 am. The epicenter was 18 miles north of Yucca Valley. The quake was felt in the Johnson Valley area & as far away as Twentynine Palms. The Landers aftershocks have certainly declined in number in the ten-plus years since the Mw7.3 mainshock, but the aftershock zone can still be distinquished on seismicity maps. By definition, the aftershock sequence isn’t over until the seismicity rate has returned to normal.
