Commentary
It’s just slightly too far south to show on the map, but there was a M4.1 quake last night offshore from San Diego. The time was 11:20 pm & the epicenter was located 42 miles south-southwest of San Ysidro. We have reports that the quake was felt in Imperial Beach, Chula Vista & San Diego. It was probably felt in Ensenada as well, but we don’t have any reports.

Commentary
A small quake (M2.6) was widely felt by many in Pasadena, including most people at the Seismological Lab, this afternoon at 1:26 pm. The epicenter was located 2 miles northeast of Caltech or 2 milse north of San Marino. We have received a considerable number of “felt reports” from Pasadena, Altadens & surrounding communities.
Interestingly, there was a M2.0 foreshock at 1:09 pm (at the same location). We got only about four felt reports for that one.

Commentary
We revised the magnitude on the first of the Lytle Creek quakes down to M3.1. Since the two quakes happened so close together in time, the amplitudes are intermixed & it took a little bit of inspection to separate them. The focal mechanism, at least for the first quake, is strike-slip.
Commentary
Two small quakes were felt early this afternoon in the Lytle Creek area. They were: a M3.3 at 1:25:05 pm & a M3.4 at 1:25:15 pm. Both were located approximately 5 miles northwest of Fontana & were felt in Rancho Cucamonga, San Bernardino, Loma Linda, Crestline & Colton.

Commentary
A M2.8 quake in the southern Sierra Nevada was felt Sunday afternoon. It occurred at 4:54 pm, 7 miles south-southwest of Olancha & was reported felt in Olancha.
Commentary
Another small offshore quake occurred at 4:29 am this morning, this time 14 miles southeast of San Clemente Island, or 60 miles west of San Diego. Magnitude was M3.2. Due to its location, this quake has not been reported felt.
