Southern California has had another M3+ quake this afternoon: a ML3.2 19 miles north-northwest of Goldstone Lake, or 35 miles east of Ridgecrest. This is an unpopulated area in the northern Mojave desert, near the Garlock fault.

There has also been a ML4.0 San Simeon aftershock, 5 miles east-northeast of San Simeon, at 5:40 pm, felt by a few people.

I’m sure that you (in southern Cal) did not feel it, but there was a ML4.0 near the Pinnacles, 22 miles south-southeast of Hollister, at 9:30 pm on Sunday. This is the area where the Calaveras fault & the San Andreas fault diverge.

Also, there was a M5.1 at 10:35 pm last night offshore of Baja California, Mexico, about 160 miles south of Ensenada. This epicenter & magnitude come from the National Earthquake Information Center.

Saturday’s Baja quake had a ML3.1 aftershock last night at 7:58 pm. There was also a ML2.9 quake in Baja, Mexico, at a different location 44 miles south of Ocotillo. The time for that quake was 7:17 pm. We have no reports that either of these quakes was felt.

What was felt, however, was a small (ML1.8) quake in the Hollywood Hills 1 mile south-southeast of Studio City. It occurred just before 3:36 am. We have a small handful of felt reports from West Hollywood & Studio City.

We now have several reports that Saturday’s Baja quake was felt in the southern Imperial Valley, particularly El Centro and Mexicali.

On Sunday at 5:19 pm, there was also a felt earthquake, in the Oxnard area. The epicenter was located 2 miles south-southeast of Port Hueneme, or 4 miles south of Oxnard. Quite a few people along the coast from Ventura to Malibu, and inland to Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, etc., felt it. The magnitude was ML3.1. There have been 2 aftershocks, the largest of which was a ML2.5 at 5:38 pm.

Early this morning, there was a Hector Mines aftershock (of the 1999 Mw7.1 quake), located 12 miles west-southwest of Ludlow. The time was 6:22 am. The magnitude was ML3.2, plenty large enough to feel, but we have no reports so far, probably due to the sparse population in the area.

A ML4.2 quake was felt in Imperial Valley early this evening. The epicenter was located in Mexico, 28 miles southeast of Calexico. The time was 6:25 pm.
