At 3:37 A.M., 16-Dec-2004 a light earthquake, magnitude 3.6 occurred 9 miles SSE of Pt. Dume (in Santa Monica Bay). This event was reported felt in the Santa Monica / West Los Angeles, Malibu and west San Fernando Valley areas. It is not an aftershock. Earthquakes in this size range occassionally happen in the Santa Monica Bay region. -rsd.

At 9:05 pm, there was a ML 3.7 event located 7 miles SSW of Big Bear City. It was reported felt in the immediate area.

December 10, 2004

There was a ML3.3 overnight in the northern Baja area. The time was 2:49 am & the epicenter was located 41 miles south-southeast of Ocotillo CA. This quake was probably not felt in the US.

A ML3.5 (Mw3.6) quake at 12:54 pm today was felt in Santa Barbara & Goleta. The epicenter was located under the Santa Barbara channel 10 miles south of Santa Barbara.

Two quakes in southern California over the weekend that might possibly have been felt, but have not been reported as felt. The first was in the Hector Mines area: a ML3.1 at 4:06 pm Saturday afternoon, 12 miles west of Ludlow.

The other was a ML3.4 in northern Baja, 36 miles northeast of Ensenada. It occurred at 10:08 pm Sunday.

In northern California, a Mw4.3 in the Willow Creek area, near Eureka, was widely felt. It occurred at 5:48 pm Saturday. There was also a ML3.4 Parkfield quake at 9:39 pm Friday, located 4 miles northwest of Parkfield.
