two felt earthquakes

Filed under: Felt Earthquakes — kate @ 7:55 am

A ML4.7 quake at 10:29 am on Sunday was widely felt throughout southern California. It originated 8 miles west-northwest of Lake Elsinore. Some people as far away as Ramona & the San Fernando Valley reported feeling it. Although it was near the Elsinore fault, the focal mechanism suggests that it was not actually on that fault.

Another smaller quake occurred Monday morning at 8:30 am. This quake was a ML3.2, located 3 miles north-northeast of Yorba Linda. It was felt in the area of northern Orange County & Whittier.
