The seismic swarm of Baja California, Mexico continues. At 3:o1 p.m. today (Saturday, March 29th) a preliminary M4.2 earthquake occurred 28 miles southeast of Calexico, within the field of the swarm that rattled the CA US/Baja Mexico border region much of last month. So far only a few people out of El Centro have reported feeling today’s earthquake and described the shaking as “light”. The moment tensor from the earthquake shows extensional movement, or “normal” faulting, which is consistent with the geological make-up of this area. For more information, please see the SCSN main page for a full description of this…continuing swarm.
