There is an ongoing earthquake swarm near Trona CA. The most recent large event was a M3.1 earthquake, located 14 miles NNE of Trona at 8:58AM on 12/2/08, preceded by a M4.0 at 8:53AM and a M3.7 at 8:41AM. These were all preceded by a M3.1 yesterday at 2:38PM, a M3.0 earthquake, located 14 miles N of Trona at 5:11 AM, and a M4.1 earthquake at 5:03AM, located 17 miles NNE of Trona, CA on 11/30/08. These events were all preceded by a M4.0 event that occurred on 11/29, located 14 miles north of Trona, CA at 1:14PM. All M4+ events were felt in the epicentral region, and may have been felt as far away as Lone Pine and Ft. Irwin. This swarm is common for CA, and may continue for days to weeks.

M4.1 Palomar Earthquake – 4:35AM 11/17/08
A M4.1 earthquake occurred at 4:35AM this morning, located 10 miles north of the Palomar Observatory in San Diego County. This event was felt by those near the epicentral region, and as far away as Orange County to the north, Riverside/San Bernardino Counties to the north and northeast, and San Diego to the south. If you felt this quake, and would like to report it, click here. The mainshock was followed by a M3.8 aftershock at 9:41AM, located 10 miles north of Palomar Observatory.
